In recent years, the central living space of the nursing or retirement home has become increasingly more important. Particularly in nursing homes with an outdated layout that made it easier for people to stay in their rooms and fall back to isolation, it is crucial that there is a comfortable, shared space that helps fight loneliness.
In an interview with local magazine Handel & Wandel in Dronten, the Netherlands, CEO Marco Lankman takes us back to the creation of International Senior Concepts (ISC). With his partner Wilfriede van Dijk, he tells about how his passion for play has naturally grown from making kids’ play areas to the next logical step: play solutions in eldercare.
In the past year we’ve been working hard to establish International Senior Concepts – your main address for fun, educative play concepts for the elderly which stimulate, inspire and help maintain their memory and cognitive abilities in a fun way. By providing games and entertainment which can be enjoyed both independently and with caregivers or visiting family members, we hope to create more social connection and to contribute to a happier life for our older generation!

Proudly, we celebrate our first donation campaign we will be hosting for Care Farm 'De Molenschut' in Leende, the Netherlands!
This beautiful location was established in 2010 and once started as a dream from Thea van Mierlo. For years, the farm has been a true sight to see where seniors can enjoy nice activities and each others' company surrounded by a gorgeous natural environment. The care farm offers daily activities, caregiving and nursing for seniors who live independently.
At the annual Jiangsu International Senior Care Service Expo held from October 9th to 11th, many healthcare organizations, scholars and government departments come together to show and share their ideas for better eldercare. The Expo pays special attention to the use of intelligent eldercare technologies, bringing awareness to the ‘digital divide’ that still exists between the elderly and the many solutions that technology could offer.
Every year on October 1, worldwide more awareness is raised for an often forgotten part of our society; our dear elders. In 1991 the United Nations established the International Day of Older Persons, meant to make younger demographics more aware of issues that many elderly suffer from, such as loneliness and immobility and even elder abuse.
The first ISC project has been tested at Dutch nursing home Woonzorgcentrum Hanzeborg in Lelystad!
Although the people first had to get used to the idea, the group managed to experience an especially fun afternoon with lots of games, laughing and dancing, with wonderful pictures as a result!
