This time we’re putting the spotlight on one of our most distinctive play concepts for the elderly; our BRYM Table and BRYM Table DeLuxe! These interactive play tables provide fun, easy and social pastimes in a modern way.

The play tables are designed entirely by our own ISC Design team, together with our ISC Studio who developed the included game software. This close collaboration can be seen in the light strips around the tables, which react to what’s happening in the game. These lights not only make for an elegant design, but also make playing easier. For instance, they clearly indicate whose turn it is so there won’t be any confusion among rather forgetful players or in between fun chatter.
 

‘Senior proof’: user-friendly design for the main end user

The software is easy to navigate so that the elderly can also use the play table independently. We’ve chosen to use not only icons, but also additional text next to every button, as seniors typically aren’t very familiar with icons compared to the younger generations and their smart devices. The text font is also large enough so it is easily readable.
In the testing phase, we’ve also introduced our play concepts to real professionals. This has also been a great source for useful tips and suggestions to our play modules. As recommended by one eldercare provider, we’ve adjusted the colours in the software to more neutral colours that are easier on the eyes.

In addition to being senior proof, our games are also perfectly suitable to play together with any visiting grandchildren. For both the kids and the elderly, the games are beneficial for their hand-eye coordination and memory, which can easily be trained by playing. Mental exercise has never been so fun and accessible!

Eldercare physician Luc Kemps enthusiastically tells us about his experiences with the BRYM Table: “Our residents have told us they really enjoy taking a seat and playing a game or two. This interactive table has ensured that people leave their rooms more often and come join everyone in the common area. They can even independently start games and invite others to play along.” This not only provides a smile for the elderly! “Their children can also see how positive an influence this table has on their elderly parents’ mood and wellbeing.”
